A strategic technical leader with over a decade’s experience in product development and engineering management, Davies joined True Digital Surgery in September 2022 after serving as Director of Hardware Engineering at Simbe Robotics, running the company’s hardware and manufacturing teams and directing its R&D and QA groups. During his three-plus year tenure, he was also Lead Mechanical Engineer on the company’s automation solutions for the retail industry, which include the world’s first fully autonomous shelf auditing and analytics robot.

Previously, Davies spent five years with San Francisco-based Function Engineering, where, as Senior Mechanical Engineer, he focused on mechanical engineering design consulting for clients in robotics, consumer electronics, and medical devices.

His career also includes two years at Boston University, where, as a Visiting Researcher and Lead Design Engineer he led a team of biomedical and mechanical engineers in designing a stereotactic guidance system for ventricular catheter placement in neuro-critical care. In recognition of his efforts, he was awarded a prestigious Coulter Grant for continued development after completion of his thesis.
